How we develop players
MODERN PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
SIMPLE PRINCIPLES
CONSISTENTLY APPLIED
Our System
Our system is built on a small number of core principles, combining technical, tactical, physical, and mental development trained together, not in isolation, to produce players who perform under pressure.
The Foundations
Movement and Stability
Movement
We prioritise strong, repeatable movement patterns, enabling players to cover the court quickly and efficiently in attack, defence, and neutral situations. Players learn to arrive balanced and ready for every shot, ensuring they can execute under pressure.
Stability & Balance
We prioritise stability and balance as the foundation for effective stroke production. Players learn to control their body — arriving balanced, adjusting efficiently, and maintaining posture through contact. This enables consistent power and precise execution under pressure.
How We Train
Habits and Intensity
Process & Respect
We focus on long-term growth over short-term wins, with a clear process guiding training and decisions. This culture is built on respect — for teammates, coaches, and the sport — with attitude and commitment valued as highly as skill.
Good Habits
We instill habits across all areas — technical, tactical, physical, and mental. Players repeat skills until automatic, develop instinctive decision-making, and build routines to perform under pressure.
Intensity & Repetition
Our training uses high-intensity, short-burst drills repeated consistently to ingrain technical skills, tactical patterns, and physical conditioning, complemented by open play to prepare players for competition.
Medicine Balls
Medicine ball work sits at the heart of our programme, developing strength, power, coordination, and movement patterns for the modern game. It is central to building complete athletes.
Developing Complete Players
Four Pillars of Performance
Technique
Our principles are clear: keep it simple, build progressively, prioritise control and spin, and use the kinetic chain efficiently. Players strike from a stable base at speed, producing strokes that hold up under pressure.
Tactics
We emphasise simplicity and high-percentage play, with mastery of patterns in closed drills before applying them in open play. Players learn 'risk vs reward' awareness and the ability to problem-solve independently.
Mental
Our players adopt a process mindset, developing routines for all phases of a match and showing resilience under pressure. They learn to reset and refocus, while maintaining a passion for the sport and respect for the game.
Physical
Strength, power, endurance, and plyometrics all have a place in our year-round programme. Medicine ball work is a core component, shaping explosive, efficient athletes prepared for the modern game.
Healthy Environment
Effort and Positivity
Coaches
Our coaches lead the development process with clear structure and high standards, creating a positive, challenging environment where effort is always praised and players are supported, stretched, and held accountable.
Parents
We see parents as partners in development, providing emotional and logistical support whilst coaches get on with the job of coaching. Consistent messaging is key to reinforcing our shared goals.
