Our Ethos
We believe that high-level tennis is fundamentally simple. Success comes from mastering core skills to an exceptional standard. As Tim Henman once said, “It’s really simple – you need to hit the ball really hard, move fast, not miss, and always try hard!” Guided by this philosophy, our programme focuses on creating players who are not only technically and physically skilled but also mentally resilient and respectful to peers, coaches, and the game itself.
A Robust Base
Our foundation lies in developing biomechanically efficient, repeatable, and controlled strokes with a strong feel for spin. We prioritise consistent, heavy groundstrokes and a high-percentage serve that can evolve into a true weapon.
Movement Skills
We put the highest emphasis on strong, repeatable movement patterns, enabling players to cover the court quickly and efficiently in attack, defence, and neutral situations. Players learn to arrive balanced and ready for every shot, ensuring they can execute under pressure.
Process-Driven Culture
We focus on long-term growth over short-term wins. This culture is underpinned by respect – respect for teammates, coaches, and the sport. Our athletes must understand that attitude and commitment are as important as physical skill.
High-Intensity, Repetitive Drills
Our training includes many closed drills to ingrain technical skills, tactical patterns, and the physical conditioning required for tennis's short-burst demands. These are complemented with open play to prepare players for the realities of competition.
Medicine Ball Training
Medicine ball work sits at the heart of our programme. This versatile training tool develops strength, power, coordination, and movement patterns crucial for the dynamic, high-intensity demands of the modern game. From rotational power to recovery speed, medicine balls are central to building complete athletes.
Building Good Habits
We instil habits across all areas: technical, tactical, physical, and mental. Players repeat skills until they become automatic, develop instinctive decision-making, and train for explosive movement. Mental routines and coping strategies help them handle both positive and challenging match situations.
Technical Development
Our principles are clear: keep it simple, build progressively, prioritise control and spin before power, and use the kinetic chain efficiently. Players learn to strike from a stable base while moving at speed, producing strokes that hold up under match pressure.
Tactical Development
We emphasise simplicity and high-percentage play, with mastery of patterns in closed drills before applying them in open play. Players learn 'risk vs reward' awareness and the ability to problem-solve independently.
Physical Development
Strength, power, endurance, and plyometrics all have a place in our year-round programme. Medicine ball work is again a core component, shaping explosive, efficient athletes prepared for the modern game.
Mental Skills
Our players adopt a process mindset, showing resilience, and developing routines for all match phases. Above all, they maintain a passion for the sport and a deep respect for the game.
Tennis Parenting
We see parents as partners in development, providing emotional and logistical support whilst coaches get on with the job of coaching. Consistent messaging is key to reinforcing our shared goals.
