Project Overview

Our vision for a new community space

A couple of years ago, with your amazing support, we transformed part of our grounds into beautiful gardens. As a not-for-profit organization, we're now focusing on improving the children’s area, which currently faces drainage issues, nettle overgrowth, and outdated play equipment. Our vision is to create a magical woodland-themed space that will include:

  • Sustainable, eco-friendly play equipment designed to inspire nature-based play.

  • A new boules area for all generations to enjoy.

  • Improved pathways and drainage to make the area accessible year-round.

  • Eco-native planting to enhance the beauty of the space and support biodiversity.

This Matters

Why we need your help

This project will create a space where families can relax, children can explore, and everyone can connect with nature. But we can’t do it alone! Your input is essential to ensure we create a space that meets the needs of our entire community.

  • For Children: A fun, engaging space that sparks imagination and adventure.

  • For All Generations: A boules area to encourage intergenerational connection.

  • For Accessibility: Year-round access for everyone, regardless of ability.

  • For the Environment: A commitment to sustainability with native planting.

We aim to begin the redevelopment once funding is secured. We anticipate this will be in the region of £20k. Here’s our proposed timeline:

  • Phase 1: Gather feedback from the community through this survey.

  • Phase 2: Secure funding and finalize design plans.

  • Phase 3: Begin construction and landscaping work.

  • Phase 4: Completion of the new space and official opening.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What will the play area include?

We’re planning to install woodland-themed, eco-friendly play equipment designed to inspire imagination and physical activity.

Why boules?
Boules is a game with broad appeal across all generations, offering a fun, accessible activity for both young and old. It’s easy to learn and can be enjoyed socially by families, friends, and community members, encouraging interaction and connection.

Why is drainage such a big issue?

The current children’s area gets boggy and unusable after rain. Our project will solve this problem to ensure year-round use.

What about the nettles?
We’ll be clearing the extensive nettles and implementing measures to ensure they don’t return, so children can play freely without the risk of getting stung.

When will the project be completed?

Once we secure funding and gather community input, we’ll finalize our plans and share a timeline.
